Home of amazing beaches and some of the best weather in Queensland, Caloundra is the gateway to the Sunshine Coast and a must see spot for any Queensland holiday.

Centrally located just half an hour from the Sunshine Coast airport and an hour’s drive from Brisbane, Caloundra offers a large number of sheltered sunny beaches perfect for swimming, fishing, surfing and a number of other water activities. Kings Beach is one of the most popular patrolled beaches in the area, with picnic and BBQ areas, playgrounds, showers and toilets. It’s the perfect place for a family trip. There’s also a free 25 metre saltwater swimming pool together with a children’s pool, wading area and disabled access. The beachfront recently went underwent a multimillion dollar upgrade and has an incredible 4km boardwalk linking a number of different beaches and ending in breath-taking views from Point Cartwright.

If you’re after a bit of action and adventure why not check out Australia’s largest Kart track, or catch the shuttle to Australia Zoo and visit the Irwin’s with their amazing animals. Australia world is only 10 minutes’ drive away and has over 30 different amusement rides including the Southern Hemispheres largest Ferris wheel, log rides, bumper cars and the infamous “Wild Mouse” roller coaster.

For those after a relaxing, romantic getaway why not try a picnic in the beautiful Glass House Mountains, stroll along the peaceful Kawana Beach or have a gourmet meal at one of the top notch restaurants along the esplanade.

The Caloundra markets on Bulcock and Caloundra Twilight Markets are perfect places to pick up fresh fruit and vegetables, seafood, clothing, natural beauty products and a host of other interesting knick-knacks.

The weather is perfect year round, with balmy days and nights averaging at 19 degrees through winter and a lovely 27 degrees in summer. Ocean temperatures swing between 20 degrees in winter and 25 degrees in summer which makes a mid-winter swim a pleasant option rather than something to avoid!
