Riverfestival is Brisbane's major annual community and environmental festival, celebrating the waterways and culture by focusing on the city's signature natural landmark, the Brisbane River. With it's broad cultural focus incorporating art, environmental science and sport underpinned by a strong sustainability message it is unique in the Australian festival's landscape.
Held over ten days in early September, a time of clear blue sunny skies and cool nights, the festival utilises many of the city's outdoor public spaces closest to the river. The breadth of the program reflects the diverse tastes and passions of the democratic mix of Brisbane, and accessibility to this program is ensured by providing many free or low cost events.
The Riversymposium is an integral part of Brisbane's Riverfestival, and is the leading international conference on river management.
