Picturesque Kingaroy

Gold Coast round trip

Price
Rating
Surrounded by picturesque farmlands and low rolling hills, Kingaroy is the central town for the diverse and beautiful region.

With a low-humidity climate similar to the acclaimed Hunter Valley, Kingaroy and wider region is ideal suited for grape cultivation. The first vines were planted in 1995 and now you can visit and taste wine at four cellar doors nearby (plus another five in the Moffatdale region, near Murgon).

Renowned for peanuts (you can’t miss the towering silos in the town centre), the region’s rich soils and lush pastures also yield produce ranging from dragon fruit, ginger, stone fruit and avocados to tasty capers, pumpkins, beef and Barkers Creek Pork.

There’s a growing gourmet food scene with chefs featuring local produce on menus at many of the award winning restaurants and cafés around town.

The adjoining Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery is a cultural hub offering diverse monthly exhibitions by local and visiting artists. The precinct is home to Kingaroy Heritage Museum and a collection of historic buildings.

Wivenhoe Dam provides a safe drinking water supply for Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast, Beaudesert, Esk, Gatton, Laidley, Kilcoy, Nanango and surrounding areas. Wivenhoe Dam was designed and built as a multifunctional facility. The dam was built upstream of the Brisbane River, 80 kilometres from Brisbane City. At full supply level, the dam holds approximately 2,000 times the daily water consumption needed for Brisbane. From here we will take the leisurely drive to to Kingsley Grove Estate for a delicious lunch and wine tasting. After lunch we will drive to Kingaroy and check into our Motel for the weekend.  Tonight we enjoy welcome drinks and dinner! **Please note all beverages are at your own cost outside of any complimentary drinks.
