The adventure begins at Climb base camp, directly under the Story Bridge itself. After a quick pre-climb brief, you’ll ascend a spiral staircase leading to the start of the suspended walkway directly beneath the Bradfield Highway (Australia’s shortest highway). From here you’ll connect to the climb line for the entire climb and begin the journey along the suspended walkway to the base of the Bridge’s pylon, learning about the colourful history of the Story Bridge and Brisbane.
By now you should have warmed up – because it’s climb time! Start the climb up through the inner Eastern bridge arm, climbing level with one of Brisbane’s busiest commute points and then ascend straight up the cantilever arm stretching over the Brisbane River and reaching up into the sky. Before you know it you’re celebrating with your climb group on the summit platform, where you’ll get your bearings and some fun facts about the amazing 360 degree panorama before you. Venture further along and you’ll explore the bridge from a different angle, travelling approximately half way across the river below before returning to the top platform for a final climb group photo before your descent back to Climb base camp.

Day 1Full Description
Story Bridge Adventure Climb provides the best 360-degree panoramic city views from the heart and soul of Brisbane’s most iconic landmark – the Story Bridge. Your adventure begins at base camp, directly under the bridge itself. After a quick pre-climb brief, you’ll ascend a spiral staircase leading to the start of the suspended walkway directly beneath the Bradfield Highway (Brisbane's shortest highway).
Start your journey along the suspended walkway to the base of the southern pylon, learning about the colourful history of the Story Bridge and Brisbane as you go. From here - it’s climb time! Venture up through the inner Eastern bridge arm, climbing level with one of Brisbane’s busiest commute points, and then ascend straight up the south-eastern cantilever arm stretching over the Brisbane River and reaching up into the sky. Before you know it you’re celebrating with your climb group on the summit platform! Get your bearings and hear some fun facts about the amazing panorama view before you. See Brisbane and its surroundings, north to the Glass House Mountains, east to Moreton Bay, and south-west towards the Scenic Rim.
Venturing further along you’ll explore the bridge from a different angle, travelling approximately halfway across the river below before returning to the top platform for a final climb group photo before your descent back to base camp. Every climb to the top includes a group photograph, with additional individual photographs available for purchase afterwards - once your adrenaline has calmed down! See the glittering nighttime lights of Brisbane below - a unique vantage point for such a view with the Twilight option.

Unaccompanied minors are not permitted to climb
Know Before You Go
Lightweight, breathable clothing
Please wear comfortable, lightweight clothing and fully enclosed shoes (joggers or sneakers are ideal).
Please be aware that all customers must register below .05 on a breathalyzer prior to climbing.
Pregnant customers up to 20 weeks may participate in a bridge climb, however, the abseil activity is not suitable.
Children 10-16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult - maximum 3 children for every 1 adult.
Minimum height 130 cm (4'2).
Maximum weight for abseil is 115kg (250lbs). Maximum weight for the climb is 130kg (285lbs).
Tour operates in most weather conditions.
In rain or cold conditions, protective clothing will be provided.
In the event of extreme weather activity (such as an electrical storm or hail storm), we will do our very best to reschedule customers for another day.
Terms and Conditions
All prices are quoted in Australian dollars, based on per person double occupancy unless stated otherwise, and inclusive of all taxes and discounts. All prices & itineraries are current as at 03/10/2023& subject to change without notice. Prices are subject to change due to availability, currency fluctuations, fuel price, and tax increases. Price includes any stated bonus nights, upgrades & package savings, if applicable. All passports, visas, travel permits, and vaccinations are the responsibility of the travelling passenger to secure prior to travel. Travel packages advertised may include multiple products provided by several suppliers to provide a travel itinerary. Each component of the package will be treated independent of each other, and the specific terms & conditions of each product supplier will apply. Hotels may charge resort fees, or a security bond not included or mentioned in this package, payable direct upon check-in.
Climber Declaration Form
Prior to climbing you’ll be asked to fill in a Climber Declaration Form. This will be emailed to you once you have confirmed your booking. Please be open and honest about any pre-existing medical conditions so we can properly assess your suitability for the climb (all correspondence is confidential).
We want everyone to climb in the safest environment possible. There are a few things that prevent participation in a climb including (but not limited to):
Being under 10 years of age (children aged 10-16 must climb with an adult, max 3 children per adult). Minimum age is 6 years old and is to be accompanied by a parent or guardian (6-11 years old is a 1:1 Ratio) 12-16 years old is a 3:1 Ratio
Being over 20 weeks pregnant
Being under 110cm tall
Weight restriction is 131kgs as per our safety equipment guidelines
A fit or seizure in the past 6 months
Broken bones/recent hip replacements/any known injury that may severely impede the climb group to proceed at a normal pace.
Alcohol – All climbers must have a blood alcohol level of less than .05 (same as in a motor vehicle). All climbers are subject to a mandatory breathalyser test prior to their climb.

Our climb leaders specialise in supporting, empowering and enabling climbers all the way to the top of the bridge and back. We’re passionate about the bridge climb and ensuring you have a fun, safe and enjoyable climb.
Please wear comfortable clothing, light in summer (you will wear a one-piece jumpsuit over the top of your clothing) and comfortable, enclosed, preferably rubber soled shoes (running / sport / hiking shoes).
For safety and security reasons, nothing can be taken up on the bridge.
This means no phones / cameras / wallets / bags – nothing can be carried up with you onto the bridge.
Secure lockers are provided to store all your personal belongings while you climb.
All climbers are subject to a mandatory metal detector scan before climbing.
Eat beforehand and hydrate well, your climb is 2 hours long.
Please arrive 15 minute prior to the climb.
The Story Bridge Climb operates in all weather conditions. We supply rain jackets but it’s a good idea to bring a spare change of clothes if it is raining. In extreme weather (electrical storms / high winds / hail) climbs may be postponed.
