Family holidays are great fun. They are an amazing experience that help you connect with your family and learn things about each other you wouldn’t in day to day life.

They are also very stressful to organise and pack for. This chaos of packing and getting your family out the door makes arriving at your destination with all the essentials even sweeter.
Read on for our list of 7 items families should never travel without to make your next holiday stress free!
  1. Portable Charger
Between photographing memories of your family on holiday, looking at directions, checking restaurant opening hours, not having a car charger and sifting through your email to find check in info, you will drain your battery pretty quickly! Having a portable charger on hand just makes life a lot easier and fail safe.
  1. Hand Sanitiser / Wipes
From beach bathrooms to hiking in the Gold Coast hinterland to burgers at a local café, hand sanitiser and wipes will never go astray. Especially when little hands are involved.
  1. Sunscreen
You can buy sunscreen anywhere, but we suggest always having it on you for these reasons:
  1. You may not be able to find your preferred brand and your kids may be used to a certain texture.
  2. It can be expensive to buy at beachfront chemists.
  3. You may need it before you can duck into the shops to buy some.

  1. Snack Packs
You’ve heard the shrill cry of ‘I’m hungry’. Stave this off by having rice crackers, tuna cans, cheese & cracker packs, carrot sticks and hummus, pop corn, grain waves, fresh fruit or anything else that is easily carried on hand and ready to distribute.

  1. Activities
Packing activities for your kids to help them wind down is a great way to also orchestrate some adult time. Colouring books, sticker books, iPads, novels and even small puzzles are a great way to calm your little ones down before bed, as well as keep them amused during flights and car rides.

  1. Power Strip
Some resorts are better than others when it comes to power outlets but having a double adaptor has never gone astray on our family travels. Even if it simply means we can both have our phones (or one phone, one kindle etc) on charge next ot the bed instead of in the kitchen / bathroom, it is handy to have one. Plus they don’t take up much space!
  1. Water Bottle
Staying hydrated when travelling is very important. Dehydration can impact your holiday from plain irritability to severe illness, so don’t let yourself or the kids go without water too long. This will be even more important if you’re visiting the Gold Coast’s theme parks or doing some hiking.
